emi’s first day

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Zoe and I took Ems to her first day of Pacific Oaks infant toddler yesterday. It’s of course scheduled right during her usual nap time.

She crashed on Zoe about 30 minutes, and then rallied to finish the class. Two hours is a long time for a little bug like her.

The space is amazing, and some interesting parents and toddlers there. Some friends and siblings from Enzos class. Emi is the youngest and smallest. Thankfully she can crawl now.

Enzo had his second day at Peppers. Great day but fell and his his head hard right befoe going home. Nice bruise this morning in the middle of his forehead.

Took Emi out in Enzos old backpack for the first time this morning. She really seemed to enjoy it. Laughing and talking the whole way. And eating yet another arrow root cookie. Next time, we’ll bring the dogs.

Tomorrow is Emi’s first day at Pacific Oaks. We had a meeting tonight and met the teachers. Little Emi will be the youngest and of course the smallest in the class. It will be rough at first but she’s getting pretty good at crawling, so should be ok.

At the meeting tonight, the head of the school led off her opening speech with a quote from Enzo from his first day!

“I don’t go to Pacific Oaks anymore, I go to Peppers Yard!”

Enzo started school today! He was stoked to be there, and was engaged immediately. At one point he walked up to the teacher, Sunshine, and said “Hey! Are you having a baby?”

Thankfully, she is actually pregnant.

We left after about half hour, and he was fine. When went to pick him up, the teacher told us that “He owns the yard.”

He has changed so much in the past year. It is remarkable and a little bit sad too. He’s a little boy now. No going back.

Playdate

Emi up at 4am this morning. Not cool. Her canines are coming in strong, and she can really crawl. She can pull herself up to standing now too.

Epic playdate with Adam, Harry and Vivien. Homemade donuts. Water slide. Zipline. Kiddie pool. Enzo was happy to have the boys over.

Kids played and played for almost five hours.

Rest of the day spent relaxing. Playing with toys, watching TV.

Crawl

Surprise offer from Marcia to babysit last night, so we were feeling a bit groggy from our night out at Palate in Glendale.

Emi of course woke up at 5AM, and Enzo also soon after. Enzo was sad that Marcia wasnt still there in the morning. We spent the day playing in the front yard, and then up to Metcalfs to see baby Eric for the first time. The boys played with the new Batcave.

Emi has been working on it for a few weeks, but today we’ll say she can officially crawl. She’s also got her two top canine teeth coming in, but no front teeth yet. Not sure that’s going to be a good look. She’s also getting much better about riding in the car. Not sitting with her in the back seat makes her less stressed about wanting to be held.

Some Pacific Oaks kids coming over for zipline and donuts tomorrow morning.
